TOPICS

Wasp Watch

Home Planet is asking listeners to keep an eye out for wasps as our resident entomologist Richard Jones believes this could be a bumper year for the yellow and black insects. The dry April allowed them to build their nests in ideal circumstances whereas the past few years have seen wet or cold springs. Peak wasp time is late August to early September but Richard asks people to start watching from now.

If you see unusually large numbers of wasps, or fewer than normal, please email and let us know, putting Wasp Watch as the subject of the email. It would be a great help if you could identify the species of wasp. Useful links
