CONSCIOUSNESS
Dr Raj Persaud talks to Adam Zeman, consultant neurologist and senior lecturer at the University of Edinburgh about the medical and mystical levels of consciousness. In his new book A User’s Guide To Consciousness, Adam Zeman examines the relationship between the conscious state and the neurological connectors in the brain.
'PRESUMED CURABLE'
Photographic portraits and extensive descriptions of mentally ill patients have been compiled in a new book Presumed Curable. The photographs come from The Bethlem Royal Hospital in South London, Britain’s second oldest public hospital, which has been treating mental illness since the 13th century.
Dr Persaud visits the Bethlem Royal Hospital Museum and talks to, Colin Gale co-author of Presumed Curable and to curator and archivist, Patricia Allderidge and finds out how photography helped treat the mentally ill in the 19th Century.
FOOD DUDES
Food Dudes is a project set up by the Bangor Food Research Unit to help younger children to eat more fruit and vegetables.
Stuart Robinson finds out about the results when he meets some of the children of Ysgol San Siôr school in Llandudno, North Wales where the project has been running for the past two years.
Raj Persaud talks to the man behind the idea, Professor Fergus Lowe, behavioural psychologist at the Bangor Food Research Unit.
