Jean MacRea
1968 :: PARIS RIOTS
Jean MacRae (pictured) contacted the BBC memoryshare website because she found herself caught up in events in Paris in 1968.
sorry
Jean was just 24 years old & was working as a librarian in London when she decided to take a holiday in Paris. As she arrived the student riots & the worker’s strike really got underway. It was a clash of ideologies. The left wing of the students & workers marching against the right wing of de Gaulle’s government.
say it with fi
Jean wrote about the events she saw in letters to her parents who were living in Oregon, and the more astute listener will immediately be able to tell that she has a firm connection with America.
