Limbo Babies
Wednesday 16 May 2007 11:00-11:30 (Radio 4 FM)
Olivia O'Leary explores the Roman Catholic tradition stipulating that babies who die before baptism cannot go to heaven nor be buried in consecrated ground. They go to Limbo, an in-between place where they can neither see God nor be reunited with their parents. Pope Benedict's advisors are now recommending that the centuries-old concept of Limbo be abandoned.
