Portmeirion
Wednesday 4 October 2006 13:30-14:00 (Radio 4 FM)
Archaeologist Julian Richards explores the hidden history of our towns through the streets and buildings of today.
In 1925, when Sir Clough Williams-Ellis acquired a North Wales peninsula, he described the location as a neglected wilderness which he would set straight. The village of Portmeirion is the remarkable result. Presenter Julian Richards, with the help of some of Sir Clough's descendants, traces the tale of how Portmeirion arose.
