It's Only Rock and Roll Al Mansfield emailed the programme to share with us the food side of his pop collection. I understand that you have received some correspondence regarding 'old fruit'. I have a 'mummified' orange that is 31 years old. When fresh it was hurled into the audience by Mark Volman or Howard Kaylan - then vocalists with the Mothers of Invention - during a particularly rousing performance of 'Call Any Vegetable' at the Bath Festival in 1970. In the same vein, somewhere in my collection of ephemera is a Smartie dating from 1968. It is one of many that were scattered into the audience by Roy Estrada the first bass player with the Mothers of Invention. What treasured items do you have, that your family just can't see the beauty of? Do you remember the concert that changed your life for ever and what did your mum think?
