Colin Osborn from Wiltshire continues the recent spate of suggestions of what you should listen to when you're ironing... Usually I do the ironing before the children leave for school, on a Monday morning, so it is done to a background of Breakfast on BBC1, Telematin on France 2 and The Big Breakfast. A change of routine caused by school holidays meant that I worked to Street Luge, Transworld Sport, Home Truths and Excess Baggage (the latter was far from ideal).
Clearly the ideal programmes to iron to are those that are made up of short pieces needing little extended concentration, as opposed to programmes for making Puff Pastry or Croissants to. For this you need films on ITV. The adverts are just long enough to roll out the dough, and fold it, leaving it to rest while the next part of the film is shown. Bread making is best done to a BBC local radio station, two singles and the mindless drivel in between are the ideal time for kneeding the dough.
