When Kevin Elam got lost while driving in Germany he found his girlfriend's navigational theory soon taking over...
My girlfriend quickly found her target - a green Opel Kadet. It cut through the Cologne traffic with an assurance and confidence that shamed us. So we followed. After about half an hour the green Kadet pulled over and two of the car's three occupants casually got out and entered a shop. We dutifully pulled over and waited too. The two men were in the shop some time, and I remember thinking, 'what on Earth are they buying in there.' About twenty minutes later the two men emerged from the shop and walked casually back to the car. The green Opel then pulled away and we followed.
Initially I thought our luck was in as the Opel headed out of town on the roads we'd failed to find. But my confidence was soon shattered when I looked in the mirror and saw an army of blue flashing lights. One of the police cars drew level with us and a gun brandishing officer waved us over. Slowly, anxiously, I pulled our car over to the side of the road. But the police didn't slow down or stop. Instead the posse picked up speed and sped on. In the distance we could see the green Opel flooring it too! The moral of this tale is clear; never, ever, follow a strange car. You never know what you'll end up in!
