Robert MacDonald

Listen to the item

Robert MacDonald's parents crossed the Atlantic in the 1940s and settled with their four children in Florida. Robert was the youngest of the MacDonald brood but then disaster struck. A gas explosion blew up the family home and killed everyone except 7 year old Robert and his brother. The brothers were not kept together and Robert was dispatched hundreds of miles away to a specialist burns hospital. His injuries were so serious that his stay in hospital was to be a very long one.

Robert spoke to David from the Netherlands where he now lives.
