Life after 50

Listen to the item

Simon Morgan is unique amongst the men in his family; he's reached the grand old age of 50. Due to a congenital heart condition, the Morgan males tend not to make old bones.

Simon's great-uncle Frank died when he was 35 at Leyton football ground, and Simon's father died at the age of 44 when Simon was just 14. In fact Simon is the first man in the family to live beyond his 50th birthday since 1851.

Simon talks about how a heart transplant saved his life and tells Tom how it feels to reach the big five 0.
