In 1951 Mary Elsy, Esme McKinnon and a couple of friends decided to pack their bags and go off on their travels. They took to bicycles and set off to cycle round Europe , which in those post war years was a tough assignment.
With the intention of getting back in time for Mary's brother's wedding, they waved farewell to the White Cliffs of Dover not knowing what they would have to face.
Mary came in to the London studio and Esme joined in from the Taunton studios. Paul Heiney was keen to find out if they were at all nervous before they set off on their adventure.
