Finding the way

Listen to the item

Maggie didn't know Andy when her husband died, and Andy had no idea Maggie existed when his wife died.

They met through the Way Foundation, a support group which aims to introduce men and women who have been widowed at a young age. The group is run by Home Truths reporter, Caroline Sarll who lost a parent when she early in life, and understands what it is like to be young and bereaved.

Andy and Maggie eventually got married, but a few weeks after the honeymoon, Andy found a lump on one of Maggie's breasts. She died of cancer last summer.

Caroline Sarll talks to Andy, his son, Alan and Maggie's daughter, Helen. They might not have had long together but the lives of those around them were changed forever.
