Loving Lucy

Listen to the item

When Lucy was born 12 years ago, her parents, Tony and Julie were assured that her more or less constant crying was normal. It wasn't until 6 months later that Lucy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Initially, Julie found it hard to be with her daughter, but Tony seemed able to cope. As time went on, Julie began to build a relationship with Lucy and it was Tony who eventually felt he could take no more of Lucy's special needs, and finally left home.

Julie and Tony talk about the early months and how they feel now about themselves, and their daughter.
