The Rev'd Dr Susan Ramasin calling on one of her parishioners
The Revd Dr Susan Ramsaran, Rector of Shipbourne and Plaxtol, visiting on Oliver

The vicar's horse

Listen to the item

Susan Ramsarin was ordained in 1994 and is now the rector of two villages in Kent - Plaxtol and Shipbourne.

When Susan abandoned her previous life her beloved horseTrilby was the one thing she just could not bring herself to leave behind.
Trilby played a vital role during the early years of Susan's ministry ferrying her mistress around two far-flung parishes where bridle paths are often the fastest way to get from A to B. She also helped to break the ice with sometimes suspicious parishioners. Sadly Trilby died several years ago and Susan has never yet found a horse to match her.

Reporter Sara Parker caught up with Susan as she departed on parish business. This time she rode Dusky, kindly lent to her by the church warden.
