As Richard gets older his musical tastes have moved to European jazz and classical music. His wife, Cindy, however, appears to be enjoying a second adolescence much to the delight of their children, Ellie and Jo.
Cindy used to like the same music as Richard, but somehow, heavy metal music is speaking ever more loudly to her. Ellie and Jo think it's great that their mum goes along with them to concerts to see Slipknot and Slayer, and love her new grunge image.
Cindy sees this as her delayed rebellious stage. She thinks she followed Richard around too much in those early years, and now she's doing her own thing.
Richard doesn't entirely agree with all this. At the moment he prefers to stick with his 'beige dad' image rather than goth it up!
