Jon Clayton, Katrina Gardner and David Cawthorne all bonded together over their ability with a paintbrush.
They each discovered their talent in different ways; for John it was the gift of a painting-by-numbers picture ; for Katrina it was a learn-how-to-paint flyer; for David it was the enthusiasm of friends and family for his doodling which revealed his secret talent.
The importance of painting is that without it the three might never have met. Each of them has a disability. John and David are both largely paralysed following accidents while Katrina was a thalidomide baby, born without fully-formed arms. The men use their mouths to hold the brush while Katrina holds her brush with her toes.
Their shared love of painting drew them in turn to contact The Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists and there they met, and acquaintance turned to friendship.
Ray Kershaw went along to meet them.
