Over 30 years ago Muriel Kilvert, who's now 87 years old, drove round the world in a Green Goddess fire engine.
Muriel was the head teacher of a private girls' school until she decided she'd had enough of routine, took early retirement and went off round the world in a Green Goddess fire engine. Adventure is in her blood; apparently she is related to Capt. James Cook - on her father's mother's side.
She acquired the fire engine, which she called 'Peregrine' - because her family's motto is 'Peregrine Armour', after seeing for one for sale in her local paper. It cost her £450.
