Sir Anthony Berry with his children

Brighton bomb

Listen to the item

Sir Anthony Berry, the former MP for Southgate and a junior minister in Margaret Thatcher's government was one of four killed in the Brighton bomb in 1984.

His son, Edward, visited our London studio to tell us about ,"without doubt the most extraordinary day of my life", nearly twenty years ago when his father was killed.

Edward's sister, Jo Tuffnell made news herself when, in order to come to terms with what had happened to her father, she eventually met with Patrick Magee, the man convicted of planting the bomb.

But until now Edward has never talked publicly about the effect his father's death, and the manner of it, had on him.
