Naming problems

Listen to the item

Gloria Hardman and her husband had trouble deciding on the names to give both of their daughters.

Gloria lived in Australia and in her husband's absence named her first daughter 'Caroline' but her husband hated the name and she had to change it to 'Nicola'.

When her second daughter was born they couldn't decide on a name for her. Eventually they settled on 'Kylie' which they thought meant 'gentle breeze' - in fact it means 'little boomerang'.

Living with a name that means little boomerang is easier for Kylie now that she's back in Australia, compared with 1970s England!
