 Listen to the item
Alan and Christine had been married for 27 years.
Christine took early retirement at 50 from her job as a primary school teacher and wanted to do something worthwhile with her time.
A local charity, Edinburgh Direct Aid (EDA) was involved in sending aid out to Bosnia. They needed HGV drivers to take convoys of humanitarian aid to Bosnia.
Alan had an HGV licence from his job driving a mobile library and Christine agreed to accompany him on his driving mission to deliver the aid.
