| | Memory Loss

 Listen to the item
Seven years ago, 42-year-old Sandra went into a coma with the rare illness encephalitis - an inflammation of the brain. When she woke up four days later she had lost her memory; she had forgotten how to speak and she didn't know what a kettle was.
Nor did she remember Graham, to whom she was engaged. She had no recollection of the couple's two daughters; Hannah, who is now 11, and 8-year-old Leah. And she had no idea that Leah was one of triplets and that both her brothers, Connor and Robbie, had died.
Philippa Budgen met the Nivens at their home near Manchester to find out how Sandra and Graham rebuilt their lives.
