Yvonne Bowden's relationship with her brother, Richard, was compromised by the fact that they were brought up more or less separately. As a consequence, Yvonne has had only sporadic contact with her brother throughout their lives.
She is now married to a Frenchman and they live with their two children in Calais. Although settled herself she explains how the intermittent presence of her brother still affects her life.
