 A few weeks ago Gillian Cross told Home Truths about hearing her father's voice for the first time, 60 years after his death. Gillian was born nine days after the sinking of HMS Neptune with all hands bar one.
Taped messages introduced by Gillian's father were recorded of the 150 New Zealanders on board and sent to their families just before Christmas.
Nixie Taverner heard the programme and emailed to say that she was the adopted daughter of the Neptune's Captain and had recently met the ship's sole survivor, Norman Walton.
Norman, an ASDIC operator searching for enemy submarines, had been on the cruiser only a matter of days before disaster struck...
