Kilt Man

Listen again

Tim in his kilt
Tim Stannard in one of his sarongs

Tim is a 58-year old who fits data cables for a living. He is married, with a 30-year-old son and a 29-year-old daughter - nothing unusual in that.

But Tim also wears what many would think of as skirts as he goes about his business.

"There is a growing band of men who are throwing off their chains and wearing kilts and kilt-like clothes," he reveals.

Tim says that he started wearing sarongs three years ago, and explains to Home Truths why he prefers the swish of his "skirts" to the cut of a trouser.
