Gifted Siblings

Listen again

Ever since Joanne Moon can remember her two daughters, Erica 11 and Andrea 10, have been academically gifted ...

Image:

Mother Joanne is originally from the Philippines as are her daughters, but she's now married to a British diplomat, the girl's step-father, Michael.

Michael was obviously pleased when he discovered the girls were gifted but was determined that his step-daughters should have fun and enjoy life as well as enjoy studying.

The sisters Erica and Andrea, go to Hampton Gurney, a state primary school in London. But, three and a half years ago, at the recommendation of their headmistress, they were also accepted onto the special study programme run by the charity Children of High Intelligence for children in the top two per-cent of ability.

Caroline Swinboure went to meet the family and hear about the pros and cons of their extreme intelligence...

Listen to what it's like for Mr and Mrs Moon bringing up two gifted siblings...
