Tan Mackay was on Home Truths recently talking about the trip she was about to make to Texas to watch a man die. Tan had been corresponding for several years with Robert, the man on Death Row, and when Robert was given the date on which he was to die, he invited Tan to witness his execution.

More recently we heard and reported that Robert had, on the day set for his death, been given a stay of execution and Tan was there when it happened...Listen to what Tan had to say about her emotional visit.

  • The State of Texas has carried out 14 executions since the beginning of 2003
  • So far this year, 32 executions have been carried out in America and 169 death sentences have been commuted
