The Ferret Woman

Linda Emmerson has always loved animals. But as she told Ray Kershaw, she's not sure that she actually wants to be called the ‘Ferret Woman’...

Ferret roulette
Eight years ago someone asked Linda to look after a sick ferret. Linda threw herself into it and before long the home she shares with her mum Margaret became a refuge for rejected ferrets.

Squiffy

In fact, their home is now called the Harrogate Ferret Rescue and has a population that fluctuates between a dozen and forty.

Ferret racing
Providing for her furry friends doesn't come cheap, and Linda's become adept at outlandish fund-raising. She was organizing ferret races long before Eddy Grundy got hold of the idea, and there's also Ferret Roulette, a truly terrifying concept for the uninitiated.
