FROM YOU

Ants

cold calling

Stefan Royle wrote:
Dear Old Father Time,

'Due to your advanced years and superior knowledge we feel that you may be able to shed light on an issue which has been causing domestic friction in our humble abode: Are, or were, flea circus' real? That is, do they have REAL fleas in them? As a child I distinctly remember watching a program on TV (it could have been Blue Peter - early to mid 80s) which detailed one of the last remaining flea circus' in Britain.

In this program a man with the aid of a microscope attached small pieces of wire around the flea's thorax, which then could then be attached to the miniature apparatus; a chariot or a balancing pole to aid tightrope walking.

My other half thinks I'm completely off my rocker and believes that even if such a program were aired it would have been on April 1st. Am I completely gullible as she seems to think?'

And Alison Benbow wrote on the message board:

'A few years ago I caught a friend, deep in thought with a furrowed brow. When I asked what they were wondering about, they replied "If an ant fell off a block of flats, would it get killed?"

I've been wondering about it on and off for years, but as I’m rubbish at physics, I've never come up with an answer...'

Not to worry Alison, John Godber has the answer: 'Nope...They might get a headache though'

Many thanks!
