BBC - Radio 4 - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

On Friday January 14, Picture Competition winners Nolan Worthington and Andrew Wyld visited the Hitchhiker studio, meeting Dirk Maggs and members of the cast and crew.

They arrived just as Jane Horrocks (Fenchurch) and fellow actors were emerging from a busy morning in the studio. Two familiar faces - or rather voices - were waiting to take their turn, in the shape of Charlotte Green and Peter Donaldson.
How do two Radio 4 newsreaders fit into the Hitchhiker universe? You'll have to wait for the next series to find out!

It proved to be an afternoon of double acts as the next scene to be recorded featured the classic combination of Simon Jones (Arthur) and Geoffrey McGivern (Ford), both on fine form.

Finally, Andrew and Nolan had their chance to step up to the microphone. Dirk had refused to tell them what they would be doing in advance, but you will be hearing their voices - in a rather dramatic way - in the new series.

Nolan says: 'It was fascinating and loads of fun to watch how the whole process works, and actually getting the chance to take part was even better! Everyone went out of their way to make us feel really welcome. It was definitely a day to remember!'

Andrew says: 'It was a strange and rather wonderful feeling to be in the same room as all these famous voices I'd known for years. Everyone was so friendly and kind, not to mention fascinating, and watching Geoffrey McGivern and Simon Jones tweaking their dialogue was an incredibly special experience - it's not often you get to see that far behind the scenes! I had had high hopes of the day, but it exceeded them on every level.'
