John McCarthy is joined by ITN’s political Editor Tom Bradby, a journalist but also a novelist who’s travelled widely in his current and other jobs; and Daniel Metcalfe whose journeyed across Central Asia spending months with small communities hardly known in the wider world.
Tom Bradby is a journalist and novelist. He was born in Malta and travelled widely as a child and a young man. Tom has worked at ITN since 1990 and during that time has been ITN’s Asia Correspondent, Ireland Correspondent and Royal Correspondent. As well as his work at ITN Tom has written five historical thrillers set in various parts of the world.
Daniel Metcalfe graduated from University with a degree in classics. He taught himself Persian and left for Tehran where he spent a year before setting off to travel through Central Asia with only his rucksack and a ukulele. Daniel spent five months trekking and riding on buses and mules to meet some of the least known people and learn about the economic and cultural changes that threaten their existence. He’s written a book about his experiences called Out of Steppe.
