A WINTER WALK Walking in the winter was a pastime much appreciated by American naturalist and author, Henry Thoreau, "For in the coldest day, and on the bleakest hill, the traveller cherishes a warmer fire within the folds of his cloak than is kindled on any hearth." Sandi Toksvig discovers many good reasons to resist staying indoors over the winter months with the help of writer, broadcaster and notorious rambler, Mike Harding and well-travelled walker Helen Todd from the Scottish Ramblers' Association.
