" Projects, hopes and resolutions jostled in my brain clamouring for attention. I could not wander from day to day. I had to plan." Peter Boardman, Mountaineer¹
Any expedition needs to be planned meticulously if it is to succeed and quite a number have failed for just that lack of organisation. Sandi Toksvig is joined by Will Gow a young man who intends to follow in the footsteps of his relative Ernest Shackleton to Antarctica but unlike Shackleton intends to press on and reach the South Pole. To give him good counsel will be Director of mountaineering films Mick Conefrey and Shane Winser, the expedition adviser of the Royal Geographical Society.
Presented by Sandi Toksvig
This week's guests:
Will Gow, European Business development manager for a Banking and Insurance group and great nephew (by marriage) of Ernest Shackleton. Will is to be the leader of a team whose aim is to follow in the footsteps of the original Shackleton expedition to the South Pole, to mark its centenary in 2008.
