On the 14th and 15th of May, as part of its Open Doors weekend, The Landmark Trust is celebrating 40 years of rescuing and restoring historic buildings and giving the public a chance to see forty of the properties that are regularly let out to holidaymakers.
Caroline Stanford - historian Caroline has been involved with the restoration of Pugin's home, The Grange, in Ramsgate. Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (1812-52) was one of the most influential and prolific architects and designers of the nineteenth century. Pugin spent his life trying to revive mediaeval architecture and design, a movement known as the Gothic Revival. Pugin built many churches, schools, convents, monasteries and country houses. He also designed the interiors for the House of Lords.
Clement Wilson - journalist Clement is Motoring Correspondent for "The European Magazine". and the author of "Our Gumball Rally""published by Virgin Books, ISBN: 075350992X. He is a veteran of three historic Monte Carlo rallies and although he now writes full time, remains an enthusiastic competitor in amateur motor sport events
Richard Williams - journalist Richard Williams is Chief Sports writer for "The Guardian" and the author of The Last Road Race" published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson, ISBN: 0297645587. It tells the story of the 'mythic' 1957 Pescara Grand Prix. Richard has also retraced the entire route of the classic Italian Mille Miglia road race and is a regular attendee at the Grand Prix.
Vic Quayle - rally driver Originally from the Isle of Man, Vic Quayle describes himself as a club rally man and has tackled many events in the United Kingdom. Vic and his wife Pam took part in The Inca Trail Classic Reliability Trial and 4x4 Adventure Drive in 2001. Fifty classic rally cars and another fifty 4x4s start off in Rio de Janeiro and are sent on a seven-week rally, over 15, 000 miles through six countries. Vic's book "A High in the Andes: Taking part in the Inca Trail Rally" co-written with Hannu Mikkola,is published by Wyntok Ltd, ISBN: 0954354001
