Charles Frazier In Open Book this week Mariella Frostrup talks to the acclaimed American author, Charles Frazier, about his new book, Thirteen Moons.
Frazier was given more than eight million dollars to write this successor to Cold Mountain and although its taken nearly ten years to complete his fans will no doubt feel the wait has been worth it.
Like Frazier’s first novel, Thirteen Moons, has strong historical roots. Its set in nineteenth century America and it tells the story of a life-long love affair and one man’s struggle to save the Cherokee from being expelled from their ancestral lands.
High Speed Printers Mariella will be hearing too about a space age printer which is threatening to revolutionise the world of books.
Ivan Vadislavic There’ll be an interview with Ivan Vladislavic, about Portrait with Keys – his brilliant re-invention of post- apartheid Johannesburg.
Jackanory And Nick Willing, who has directed the two new episodes of that broadcasting institution, Jackanory, will be discussing how the show’s spirit has been preserved even though the cardigans of yore have given way to computer graphics.
