Mariella Frostrup is joined by Howard Jacobson whose latest novel Kalooki nights tells the story of three Jewish boys growing up in Manchester in post war Britain.
Howard Jacobson
Howard Jacobson’s latest novel Kalooki Nights explores the impact of the Holocaust on the lives of Jews who did not experience but who grow up in its shadow. It is told through the eyes of Max Glickman whose secular home life in Crumpsall Park contrasts starkly with his friend Manny Washinsky who lives with his ultra orthodox family across the street.
