This week's programme
Mariella talks to the doyenne of the short story, Alice Munro, who explains why she can't write characters she doesn't like. She would, she asserts, rather abandon a story than put a truly unpleasant character on the page. Are publishers waking up to the needs of Black and Asian writers and readers? And, the reading group that turned a hobby into a career.
