This Week on Open Book:
A Special Mother's Day programme about mothers in fiction and non-fiction. Mariella Frostrup talks to Rachel Cusk about her new novel The Lucky Ones which features a series of interlocking stories about parenthood.
The memoirist Kathryn Harrison reads from her devastating new memoir Seeking Rapture which tells of the neglect she suffered at the hands of her mother as a child. She also explains why she doesn't feel self-pity, after all, she has a compelling story to write.
The writers Blake Morrison and Diran Adebayo explain how their own mothers feature in their writing and the writer and critic Robert Winder is on hand to suggest why there seem to be few mothers in literature.
