The town of Oldham was transformed by cotton. At the peak of production in the early years of the 20th century, a third of the spinning of cotton in England was carried out in over 300 mills in Oldham alone. As well as changing people lives, these huge architectural structures changed the landscape of the North West of England forever. A new exhibition at Gallery Oldham reveals how those changes were recorded by artists from the early 19th century to the present day.
