For many, William Holman Hunt is the archetypal Pre-Raphaelite artist. He was a founder member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood - a group of artists who blazed into prominence in the mid 19th century. Their manifesto, turbulent personal lives, and huge passion for art caught the public imagination and their paintings are some of the most well known by British artists.
