THE TOM ROBINSON BAND
The Tom Robinson Band was one of the more unlikely outfits to emerge in the punk era, mixing hits like 2-4-6-8 Motorway with passionate political polemics, including Glad to be Gay. But Robinson and his band slipped from fame after releasing just two albums. Twenty five years on both albums are being re-released, and Tom Robinson, now a broadcaster on Radio 4 and 6Music, explains to John why he sees the band's work as journalistic rather than poetic.
The Tom Robinson Band's albums Power in the Darkness and TRB2 are re-issued now on EMI
FAMILY DRAMA
From the Barrymores in America to the Redgraves in Britain, family dynasties have been a feature of theatre history. But now a family in Glasgow are taking this a step further - despite having no acting experience between them, three generations of the Kelly family are appearing onstage together at the city's Tramway theatre, in a play based on their own lives. John speaks to Robert Kelly and his daughter Heather to find out how the experiment is going...
Butterfly is at the Tramway in Glasgow until Saturday (16 October)
