JOHN ARDEN
John Arden speaks to Front Row about The Stealing Steps, his collection of legends and fables, from 14th century Yorkshire to present-day Ireland.

The Stealing Steps is published by Methuen, ISBN 0413773337

The Oxford Stage Company begin their tour of Serjeant Musgrave's Dance in Southampton on 22 September. It then travels to Cheltenham, Greenwich, Exeter, Edinburgh, Oxford, Bury St Edmunds and York.

SCOTTISH NATIONAL THEATRE
It was announced today that Scotland is to have a National Theatre. James Boyle, Chairman of the Scottish Arts Council joins Mark Lawson to explain more about it.

ROBERT LENKIEWICZ
John Wilson reports on the auction of artist Robert Lenkiewicz's collection of drawings and painting, among which is a drawing of "Diogenes", a tramp who famously "donated" his body to Lenkiewicz.

Front Row discusses two new works which take the Falklands as their theme - Gregory Burke's play The Straits looks at the patriotism and camaraderie amongst a group of teenage boys in Gibraltar and Tim Binding's novel Anthem charts the effects of the conflict on the residents of a road in middle England.
