GANGSTER RAP
Today the Home Secretary, David Blunkett called for talks with the music industry in Britain after suggestions by some that the often violent lyrics in gangster rap or hip-hop music may encourage gun-related violence of the kind which caused the recent deaths in Birmingham. In the US similar debates have been taking place. John Wilson spoke to Nelson George, author of Hip Hop America and asked what Britain can learn from the US.
