SMOG
To mark the 50th anniversary this week of London's worst ever smog, an exhibition called Smog opens at the London School of Medicine and Tropical Hygiene. Dr John Thornes reader in applied meteorology at Birmingham University, Penny Tranter, meterologist for the BBC, and D.J. Taylor assess the change in atmosphere of the country's capital.

VIRAL MOVIE MARKETING
Film publicity which doesn't look like publicity: a London phone box was wrapped with official contamination-warning tape to promote the recent movie 28 Days Later whilst today the Advertising Standards Authority announced that it would investigate the use of unsolicited voicemails to promote the DVD and video release of the Tom Cruise film Minority Report. Alan Morrison of Empire magazine explains why movie publicists might be doing it.
