GROUND ZERO SITE
The sensitive challenge of rebuilding the Ground Zero site in Manhattan has so far confounded New Yorkers. They’ve rejected proposals from local architects so the project’s been opened to international competition. The shortlist of six has just been announced and they include Daniel Liebeskind, who designed the Holocaust memorial museum in Berlin, Richard Meier, architect of the Getty Museum in California and from Britain, Foster and Associates. John Wilson reports on the news.
