Joe Cornish talks to Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock about their new romantic comedy, Two Weeks Notice.
MOVIE MOGULS
Hollywood producer Robert Evans is considered by many to be the last of the movie moguls. As Head of Production of Paramount he rejuvenated the studio with hits such as Chinatown and Love Story. His biographical film, The Kid Stays in the Picture, is out this week. Joe Cornish asks him if his life really was as exciting as legend has it, and Back Row talks to Philip French, David Thomson and Demetrios Matheou to find out why they don't make movie moguls like they used to.
MOVIE PIONEERS.
The first projected films arrived in London's Empire Leicester Square in 1896 as part of the vaudeville bill. One man was so inspired by what he saw that he decided to do it himself. His name was George Albert Smith, a practising mesmerist with ambitions as a showman. Many of his films can be seen at the new Hove museum, which opens on Tuesday 4th February. Joe Cornish went to Hove to find out more about this early movie pioneer.
