Brian Cox in L.I.E.
The British film actor Brian Cox plays a sympathetic pederast in Michael Cuesta's new film L.I.E., in which a neglected suburban teenager drifts into petty crime and into his clutches. Brian Cox talks to Joe Cornish about his decision to take on the role.
MISSING SCENES
Next Friday sees the re-release of Billy Wilder's The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, his three hour masterpiece which was cut down to two hours. The idea of missing scenes has always held a powerful sway over filmgoers, with images of missing footage just waiting to be discovered in a dusty vault. Back Row talks to novelist Jonathan Coe, Alexander Walker and Mark Kermode about finding missing scenes and finally getting to see them.
THE MOVIE-GOING EXPERIENCE
Pat O'Regan from Manchester contacted Back Row with his cycling and cinema tour of Wales, forty years ago. He talks to Back Row about Dolly's Cafe and Cinema in Llangollen and the farmhands who had to sit at the back.
We're conducting a survey into movie-going experiences. We'd like to hear about the most unusual, wonderful, or extreme places you've ever watched a film. Email us at [email protected].
