This week on The Verb, Ian McMillan discusses one of the great Welsh poets of the twentieth century, R.S. Thomas. He talks to Byron Rogers whose new authorised biography examines the man behind the poetry.

Journalist Aminatta Forna explains the process of learning a new language in order to do research for her first novel set in Sierra Leone.

Also on The Verb a new collection of poetry from Jeremy Hooker. 'The Cut of the Light' contains work written over a period of forty years, and shows the development of Hooker's poetry which is concerned with nature, and history, and spirit of place.
