This week The Verb celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sigmund Freud. Join Ian McMillan and guests to hear a new commission from writer Jenny Diski - a comical homage to the founder of psychoanalysis and populariser of the creative unconscious being.
Also, we discuss Arabic script and how the shape and form of it's words, poetry and calligraphy have actually gone on to influence artists today. Ian is joined by Venetia Porter, curator of a major exhibition at the British Museum, and by leading Iraqi artist, Dia Al Azzawi.
And how much does the boundary defying poetry of artist, film maker and writer Imtiaz Dharker reflect her extraordinary background? Born in Pakistan, and brought up as a Muslim and Calvinist in Glasgow, she now lives in Mumbai and London. She performs two pieces from her poetry collection The Terrorist at My table.
And, in a strange, new audio cartoon from Peter Blegvad, he empties the attic, disturbs some moths, and discovers more than just a few moth holes...
