On The Verb this week Ian McMillan talks to critic and poet Tom Paulin whose new book reveals the secret life of poems. He subjects the work of writers from George Herbert to Seamus Heaney to very close textual analysis, revealing the rhythms, sound echoes and forms which transform ordinary words into poetry. Also on the programme, the writer John Marks introduces his brand new story written in a combination of English and Spanish, and Ian and his guests go in search of the lost Nobel Literature Laureate Carl Spitteler. And there's performance from rapper and singer HKB Finn who also discusses the continuing fascination for writers of the move from country to city life.
