Programme Details
For the last programme of the year Ian McMillan presents a Verb special with A.S. Byatt.
A.S. Byatt is one of our leading writers. She used to work as an academic, and at the age of 68 she's not settled back but looking forward and thinking forward. Her novel 'Possession' won the Booker prize in 1990 and her latest collection of short stories 'The Little Black Book' was published last year.
She joins Ian to talk about her distinctive style of writing and her growth as a writer, and her fantastical fairy tale world as a child. She has written the last of The Verb's series of modern fairy tales, a short story called 'The Slob and the Blue Boggart'. The story was written especially for The Verb and is as yet unpublished.
All A.S. Byatt's books are published by Vintage.
